Control Room A - Battersea Power Station

When Hannah Lawrence and Matthew Spelman decided to marry, they wanted an event that would be both personal and representative of their life in London before moving abroad to Dubai. Keeping their wedding a secret from most of their guests, they cleverly disguised it as a "leaving party," inviting friends and family to Control Room A at Battersea Power Station.
Here’s a look at how the couple made this memorable day come to life in one of London’s most iconic venues:

What specifically made you choose Control Room A for your surprise nuptials?
"Since we were about to move abroad and out of London, we wanted a very ‘London’ wedding to represent everything we loved about living in London. We chose The Ritz and Control Room A because we felt they were both iconic London venues steeped in history. Even more so, Control Room A really meant something to us since we were living just above it inside the Power Station (Switch House West). It is such an impressive room and it felt like the perfect place to celebrate with our friends and family."

What features of Control Room A do you find most appealing?
"The room itself is so grand and steeped in history, it makes for such an impressive setting—something so different from anywhere else."

What was your initial impression of Control Room A during your first site visit?
"It was so unique and grand. There were so many distinct features and elements to the room, even seeing the old controls to Buckingham Palace and Downing Street."

Would you recommend Control Room A for weddings and private parties? If so, why?
"Definitely. It made our wedding so unique, and our guests were so impressed with the venue. We felt less was more, and the venue spoke for itself, so we were able to keep the wedding simple without taking away from the wow factor."
