An Art Deco Affair: Exclusive Dinner for Global Energy Leaders at Control Room A
From the moment guests were greeted by a bellboy at Lift 109, it was clear this wouldn’t be an ordinary corporate dinner. Set against the backdrop of Battersea Power Station’s restored Control Room A, the evening delivered a fully immersive 1920s-inspired experience for a private client in the global gas and oil industry.
This annual celebration, held at some of London’s most iconic venues, made its debut at Control Room A in 2025 - transforming the Art Deco landmark into a setting that was both historically rich and theatrically styled. The evening unfolded across several of Battersea’s key spaces, beginning with a private ascent to Lift 109, followed by a drinks reception in the Directors Bar, before culminating in a three-course dinner with entertainment in Control Room A. To ensure a seamless guest journey, 1920s character performers - complete with flapper dancers and vintage stylings - escorted attendees from one space to the next, blurring the line between logistics and live performance.
Entertainment was woven throughout the event. A jazz trio performed from a bespoke stage tucked behind the central heritage units, while professional dancers rotated sets from four individual platforms positioned in the bay windows. Vibration Production managed the full AV install, uplighting Control Room A’s architectural details and providing soft seating, custom bars, and high-end poseur tables. “I trusted the team completely,” the client said. “They made it easy—and I always felt I was in good hands.”
Catering from Alexander & Bjorck elevated the evening further. Guests were treated to a refined menu and post-dinner cocktail reception with details like upgraded tableware to match the 1920s theme. Florist Mary Jane Vaughan brought the look together with dramatic centrepieces, tall candlesticks, and gold-accented styling to draw the eye to the space’s iconic coffered ceiling. The result was a visually stunning, fluidly executed evening that left a lasting impression on both organisers and guests. “It was a dream seeing this come to life,” the client said. “Control Room A is my favourite venue to date - and I’d host this event here every year if I could.”
